Hello! My name is Bear. The humans say I’m a Staffy cross Collie and I’m a big lad now because I’m 5 years old. They are saying a pet-free home for me, but in a previous home I did live with a female doggy, so it may be possible I can do this again if and when the time is right, and we can meet properly and see how we get on.
I enjoy going for my walks – I’m currently having two a day with my exercise human. They said I ignore dogs if I see any and I don’t pull when out walking, but would still be better if I’m kept on the lead whilst out. I’m not a small furry animal lover, so cats and that are best kept out my way!
I can sometimes get very nervous when I first meet a stranger and it may take me a little while to trust you, but wow, when I do trust a human, they say I’m a very sweet boy! I love to cuddle up on your lap when we are relaxing, (they say I’m a ‘cuddle monster’ when I trust!) Once I learn to trust someone I do worry in case I’m going to lose them. I get scared in case they don’t come back so I do get a little protective of my humans, but I love treats so I’m sure with some patience and time we can overcome my worry and I won’t be as protective when I realise I’m not going to lose you.
I’m a doggy who doesn’t really like children of any age, so hopefully I can find a child-free home, as that’s where I will be most happy and comfortable. I absolutely love my food! I think I would do anything for a treat or a toy. I really enjoy playing with my tennis ball; I enjoy going in the car with my seat belt harness on so I know I can relax and enjoy the ride.
At bedtime I sleep in my own bed with my blanket. I have short hair so I don’t take much grooming. I don’t mind going in the bath now and then with a good dry afterwards.
When I get my forever home, my new humans will need to build my confidence and trust up. This is going to be slow but will be worth it! I do get anxious and scared when I’m left alone and may try to open the doors to find you, so they say knob handles would be much better to keep me safe in the room so I can’t try and find you if you are away out. When you go out, I don’t like being left alone for more than a couple of hours, – I become very stressed and scared and may have an accident on the floor, but again this will pass as my trust is building. I find it hard to trust, as I’ve never had what you call a loving stable family home and I would love to have a forever loving home like some of my doggy friends have found…
So hopefully you will see that I do need a little training and confidence/trust boost, but I just know when I get a forever home we can work hard together and we can all be happy in our home.
Love from Bear x
