Rescue Rehabilitation and Sanctuary

At our base of operations on Orkney we have 8 bespoke kennels with enclosed sleeping areas and covered inside runs. The sleeping areas all have underfloor heating and there is a large kennel kitchen which houses the fridges, washing machine and storage along with copious amounts of hot water. The Sanctuary area consists of 5 specially developed rooms boasting a minimum floor space of 7ft x 9ft which allows our long timers to have a more homely environment they also benefit from underfloor heating throughout. Where possible, the dogs all have their own comfy bed and in cases a comfy chair also. Every effort is made to make sure their mental stimulation is met through the use of toys and interactive games. We also have an isolation unit for new intakes or any dogs that fall ill or need peace and quiet. We also have an indoor exercise/training area which comes in handy when the Orcadian weather is against us.

Outside, there are 2 large fully secure paddocks for play and training along with four acres of private fields for walking. The fields are kept as wild as meadows with walking tracks mown through them to give the dogs plenty of scents and stimulation whilst allowing the human element easy walking! We are lucky to have a beach which is a mere few minutes walk away.

As always, we stive to improve the facilities for our dogs and have many plans for our premises.....watch this space.
